REDRESS at the LIFE Platform Meeting

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) are hosting the LIFE Platform Meeting in Valencia, Spain, from June 9 to 11, 2026. This event focuses on addressing the challenges of implementing the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) within the marine environment highlighting how the LIFE and other EU-funded projects contribute to these efforts.

REDRESS was invited to present inputs during LIFE Platform Meeting: Meeting the Challenges of the Nature Restoration Regulation Best Practice and Innovation in Marine Restoration in Europe. The REDRESS was represented by several partners. Anthony Grehan (UNIGALWAY) and Stefan Ragnasson (MFRI) presented on the restoration of Atlantic cold-water coral habitats from Iceland to the Bay of Biscay while Marina Parra Carreiro-Silva (UAz-IMAR) presented on the experience of restoring cold-water coral gardens in the Azores in collaboration with fishermen. The network of Life projects was opened by Federica Foglini with the support of Giorgio Castellan (CNR) with the presentation of the LIFE MAPPER and LIFE DREAM projects, followed by Jordi Grinyò (CSIC) with the intervention on LIFE ECOREST. Sahar Stevenson-Jones (SERE) concluded the session with the keynote speech “From projects to policy: SER Europe’s role in scaling marine restoration”. Nadia Papadopoulou and Chris Smith (HCMR) led the exhibition corner of the project with brochures on governance structures and processes to support deep-sea restoration efforts.
