The ICES Annual Science Conference (ASC 2026, https://www.ices.dk/events/asc/2026/Pages/default.aspx) took place at Le Quartz – National Stage in Brest (France), from 15th to 18th September 2026. The flagship event brings together marine scientists from around the world to share innovative research across key areas of ICES science, including ecosystems, human impacts, emerging technologies, and conservation. The REDRESS WP5 team coordinated by WU and HCMR was fully engaged in this event with a series of presentations and posters to provide highlights of the different tasks of the project.
REDRESS members, Marloes Kraan and Johanna Buerkert (WU), Chris Smith and Nadia Papadopoulou (HCMR), Laura Trovão (UAveiro) and Morane Clavel-Henry (GEOMAR), joined marine scientists from around the world at the annual science conference of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea.
Besides hosting the SERE booth, the team shared the most recent findings from REDRESS WPs 3, 4 and 5 during the poster session and the special session on restoring fish seascapes, hosted by Mark Dickey-Collas (DickeyCollas Marine), Eirini Glyki (European Environmental Agency) and Maximilian Schwarz.
Exciting to see that (deep-sea) restoration is gaining momentum also in the ICES context- and to see REDRESS findings on the importance of involving different actors and finding common ground mirrored in other projects.
