ICES Annual Science Conference 2025 is hosted at Klaipėda University in Lithuania on 15-18 September 2025.
This conference, the flagship event of ICES, brings together marine scientists from around the world to share innovative research, ideas, and build lasting collaborations. Nadia Papadopoulou and Chris Smith (HCMR) are both presenting the mission of SERE (Society for Ecological Restoration – Europe) and REDRESS project. The conference features several thematic sessions covering a wide range of topics shaping the future of marine science including human dimension, climate change, cumulative impacts, vulnerable marine ecosystems and sustainable aquaculture. The conference is also the occasion for interactive and engaging sessions that bring together diverse perspectives, spark discussions, and explore innovative approaches to shared challenges:
- A self-reflection in Marine Sciences
- Peer review: best practices and hands-on training
- Gender equity in marine science
- Lights, camera, TAF code! The TAF-cademy Awards
- Marine sciences and the offshore wind sector: Towards sustainable development
This conference is a great event to build an international network for the aims of the REDRESS project and the tasks of WP4 and WP5. Moreover, this session reinforces the strong link between the REDRESS consortium and SERE initiatives on marine ecosystem as the launch of the Marine Restoration Working Group.
A heartfelt thank you to Nadia and Chris, on behalf of the REDRESS Consortium, for presenting the importance of marine ecosystem restoration, including the challenge to apply innovative solutions in the deep sea.
